It’s the battle of the verges
EThekwini municipality encourages cleanliness through its verge campaign.

EThEKWINI Municipality’s Parks, Leisure and Cemeteries Unit is currently running a verge campaign aimed at encouraging residents to beautify and keep their verges clean and well maintained.
As part of the campaign, residents are encouraged to submit details of verges they feel are creatively landscaped, well maintained, visually appealing and contribute to the beautification of their street and neighbourhood.
Entries, which close on Friday, 4 March, will be assessed by representatives from the Municipality. The winners will be recognised at a Mayoral Award Ceremony to be held in April.
The verge campaign supports the Clean and Maintain My City campaign which is a call by eThekwini Mayor James Nxumalo for all residents to take ownership of their areas and keep them clean.
Interested parties can send a photograph of their verge accompanied by a short motivation to lance.rasmussen@durban.gov.za, MMS to 083 454 9819 or hand deliver their entry to Botanic Gardens, 70 St Thomas Road, Berea, Durban.
Remember to include the physical address, name and contact details of the property owner or occupant and specify whether it is a residential house, block of flats or business area.
