Good arrests by Berea SAPS

A young thief who snatched a chain form a woman at a Morningside intersection was among the criminals arrested by Berea police this week.

BEREA police crime prevention made good arrests over the past week, which included a chain snatching suspect at a busy Morningside intersection on Monday.

According to Captain Kevin Stephen, a young man was arrested for robbery after he snatched a chain from a woman who was driving in Morningside. “The woman had allegedly stopped at Avondale and Clarence Road intersection corner, when the man came to her window and snatched her chain. With the help of the community, our crime prevention members, managed to chase and apprehend the 22 year old suspect,” he explained.

Stephen said the crime prevention members made another arrest later that day in Musgrave Road. “We received information about a suspicious vehicle, a Chevrolet Sonic, responsible for remote jamming of vehicles and Sgt Carl Dennis noticed the vehicle parked on Musgrave Road. We kept observation and then stopped and searched the driver and arrested him after he was found in possession of car breaking and remote jamming implements,” he added.
