A local security company working with the police arrested burglars at a shop in Durban.

A LOCAL security company working with the police arrested two alleged burglars and recovered stolen cash at a business premises in the CBD in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said the burglars had broken into the store in West Street via the roof at around 2.20am.

“Our armed response officers responded swiftly to the scene of the crime along with the SAPS flying squad and arrested the two men as they attempted to flee the property. The men were taken to Durban Central police station,” he said.

Jackson said the men had attempted to flee with money that they had taken from the store’s cash office, which was recovered at the scene of the crime.

He commended the swift response of the police and armed response officer.

“We will continue to partner closely with the police and our business clients to ensure that criminals are brought to book and that business properties that we monitor are adequately secured against the risk of burglary and robbery,” he said.
