AN alleged housebreaker who had a nasty fall off a wall in Glenmore, found himself face to face with a patrolling armed response officer who promptly arrested him and handed him over to the police.
Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said the alleged housebreaker was one of three suspects arrested in incidents reported to the company across the Berea over the past week.
“The housebreaker had climbed over the fence and forced open the sliding door of a house in Melisina Road but he was disturbed by a student on the property. The student chased the suspect who fled and fell from the property wall onto the pavement, injuring his face,” he said.
He said the officer arrested the suspect and handed him over to the Umbilo SAPS. A laptop, two cellphones, a knife and a screwdriver were recovered from the suspect.
Jackson said an armed response officer had spotted two suspects fleeing a property in Willowfield Crescent in Springfield Park and gave chase and arrested them.
“The suspects had broken into a property and stolen copper pipes which were recovered at the scene of the arrest,” he said.
Greenwood Park SAPS took the suspects into custody.
