Dental health packs for young pupils
The community is encouraged to support the Catch the Cavity Mandela Day Project.
TO commemorate Mandela Day this month, the Union of Jewish Women (UJW) branches across the country will be presenting toothbrushes and toothpaste to thousands of young children at disadvantaged pre-primary and primary schools.
This is a special gesture for the little ones, many of whom may never have had their own toothbrushes. In addition to the products that the UJW will be distributing, Colgate will be donating 5 000 packs containing toothpaste, toothbrushes and educational material on dental health, and will send oral hygienists to four of the branches to accompany them to the schools.
“UJW is extremely grateful to Colgate, for assisting with this very worthwhile project. Children’s excitement at receiving such gifts knows no bounds, and so the Union of Jewish Women is appealing for more packs of toothbrushes and toothpaste from the community to enable even more children to benefit. Dental care is vital for the health of children, supplying as many packs as possible to as many children as possible, will help them to grow into healthy and vibrant young adults,” said Bev Levy, chairperson of the Durban branch.
