BEREA police arrested a 26-year-old man for housebreaking and theft on Friday morning.
According to Captain PN Naidoo, communications officer at Berea SAPS, at 5.45am police officers were patrolling along Florida Road when they noticed a man breaking into the window of a shop. “They went to see what was happening and noticed the suspect was stealing a knife,”explained Naidoo. The suspect was detained at Berea SAPS and appeared in court on Monday.
Dagga arrests
A 21 and 46-year-old man were arrested for possession of dagga and detained at Berea SAPS last week.Captain PN Naidoo of Berea SAPS said in the first incident last Wednesday afternoon, officers noticed the suspicious man while patrolling along Lilian Ngoyi (Windermere) Road. “When they stopped and searched him, they found dagga in his possession,” he said.
Naidoo said the younger man was arrested on Saturday morning when police officers found him behaving suspiciously while they patrolled along Steve Biko Road.
Musgrave woman wakes up to thief in home
A Musgrave woman is lucky to have escaped a housebreaking unharmed and had her possessions returned on Saturday. According to Captain PN Naidoo, the woman woke up to noises in her Musgrave Road flat around 4.30am. “Whilst still in her bedroom she noticed a suspect in her house throwing her property out through an open window into her neighbour’s yard. The suspect then jumped through the same window and the woman then screamed for help,” he explained.
Naidoo said the woman’s neighbour came to her with the stolen possessions explaining the suspect had been arrested by patrolling Metro Police. Naidoo said the 27-year-old suspect was arrested for housebreaking and theft and detained at Berea SAPS.
