Swings replaced at local park

Ward councillor, Nicole Graham, is pleased with the swift response by the Parks Department to replace the swings at Kingsley Park in Glenwood.

THE swings at Kingsley Park in Kingsley Road, Glenwood, have been repaired, thanks to a swift response from the Parks Department.

Ward councillor, Nicole Graham, said a resident living near the park contacted her a month ago regarding the swings.

“The resident, Heinrich Hanekom, said he loved the park and often took his children there. He said the children always asked when the swings would be fixed. I took it up with the Parks Department and was told the initial issue was the department no longer wanted to repair metal swings, as they were stolen for scrap,” she said.

Graham said fortunately the metal of the swings in Kingsley Park was in tact, and just the base of the swings needed to be fixed.

“It looks very nice and I’m hoping the community will make use of them. I’m impressed by the quick response from the department and the residents who are taking an interest in the park and ensuring their public spaces are well maintained,” she said.
