Paramedics kept busy with flood call outs
Rescue Care paramedics urge motorists to drive slow after attending many collisions over the past few days due to heavy rains.
RESCUE Care Paramedics were kept extremely busy over the past few days with the heavy downpours that lashed Durban and surrounds.
According to Ceron Lennox a Rescue Care advanced life support paramedic, their crew attended to multiple collisions between Saturday night and Monday evening.
“Although the rain is much needed in our province we see a marked increase in the amount of collisions. The common areas where most collisions occurred were the M7 between the N2 and the N3, on the M13 near the Westwood Mall and the N2 both North and South bound between Spaghetti Junction and the M7. A mud slide had occurred on the N2 near the M7 which caused absolute chaos due to collisions between vehicles and vehicles that were broken down on the freeway,” Lennox explained.
Rescue Care Paramedics urge motorists to please slow-down, extend their following distance in the rain and ensure their vehicles are in good working order. “We advise people should check their tyres and ensure they are not worn smooth andthat their headlights and windscreen wipers are in working order,” she added.
