Woman dies after being struck by bakkie

Doctors and paramedics tried to revive her but she was declared dead short after arriving at Addington Hospital.

A 30-year-old woman died after she was struck by a bakkie on the R102 Umgeni River, Durban  on Friday afternoon. (4pm)

ER24 paramedics found the woman lying in the middle of the road. She sustained a severe leg injury and possible internal injuries. She was in a critical condition.

The woman was treated on the scene and rushed to Addington Hospital. Shortly after arrival at hospital her condition suddenly deteriorated. Paramedics and doctors initiated CPR, but despite their efforts they could not revive her and she was later declared dead.

The driver of the bakkie was not injured in the incident. Local traffic police attended the scene.
