Retirement home celebrates 30 years
Eden Gardens in Musgrave celebrated its 30th anniversary last Friday.
EDEN Gardens Retirement Home in Musgrave celebrated 30 years on Friday with a celebratory lunch for residents and staff.
At the black tie event, staff were also awarded for their long service to the home. Mathews Buthelezi, Pauline Kisten and Theressa Duma were awarded for 10 years’ service and Ivan Dhanpat and Nester Khanyile recognised for their 30 years’ service.
“We’re very excited to be celebrating and we have our special guests, Mary Scott and Fiona Rogers present. Mary’s husband, Malcolm Scott was the founder of Eden Gardens, and Fiona was the first general manager of the home. It is special to have them here today. We also are pleased to have our directors present, as well as our VIP guests – our staff who received long service awards,” said Natasha Jameson, general manager.
She said two of the residents Tim Baker and Lynn Peasley, had been at the home since it opened 30 years ago.
David Warmback, speaking on behalf of the directors, said it was an auspicious occasion, and he congratulated the staff who received awards.
“I have been involved as a director at Eden Gardens since 1998, and have seen the share block flourish and go from strength to strength. The Eden Gardens scheme is financially secure as a result of good governance and compliance by the shareholders. The home is maintained and run properly through the hard work contributed to by shareholders, managers, directors and staff who make it the special place it is. We drink a toast to 30 years, and to the next 30 years,” he said.
