Scores injured in taxi accidents
Traffic was severely affected while emergency personnel treated the injured in two separate accidents in Durban on Friday night.
TWO separate taxi accidents on Friday night left scores of people injured.
According to Garrith Jamieson from Rescue Care, the first collision took place around 6.30pm on the N3 West bound just after Brickfield Road.
“Two taxis had collided into each other in the taxi lane. Multiple people were injured including a pregnant lady. Ambulances attended the scene to assist with the mass casualty scene,” he said. Jamieson said 20 people were transported to various Durban Hospitals for further care.
Shortly after 7.30pm, Rescue Care paramedics attended to another accident involving a taxi on the N3 West Bound just after Tollgate Bridge.
“A Taxi had ploughed into the back of a car. Yet again multiple resources were dispatched to assist with the mass casualty scene,” Jamieson said.
A total of 11 people had sustained various injuries and were stabilised on the scene before being transported to various Durban Hospitals.
“Metro Police attended both the scenes and will be investigating further,” he said.
