Student stabbed in attack

Blue Security reported a stabbing and a robbery in the Glenmore and Glenwood areas on Saturday.

A STUDENT was stabbed while walking in Glenmore on Saturday night.

Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said the student was walking along Elgie Road at around 8.30pm when two men attacked him.
“The men stabbed the student in his lower black and fled the scene. Paramedics attended the scene and transported the victim to a nearby hospital. The motive for the stabbing is unknown at this stage,” he said.

Jackson said in a separate incident armed response officers responded to an armed robbery in Bartle Road where a gang had robbed a resident of R35 000 cash that he had just withdrawn from a local bank. The incident occurred at around 11.40am on Saturday.

“The resident had returned from drawing the cash at a bank in the Davenport area when two men driving a white BMW with no registration plates broke the lock on the pedestrian gate of the property to gain entry, ” he said.

Jackson said the men held the resident up at gunpoint and robbed him of the cash. The robbers smashed a window on the property to intimidate the victim and then fled the scene. No injuries were reported and Umbilo SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
