Glenwood mother picks up the pieces after shooting
The brave Glenwood mother who was shot while trying to assist a hijacking victim in Morningside six months ago is recovering well and about to start part-time work after the awful incident.

THE young Glenwood mother who was shot while trying to offer assistance to a hijack victim in Morningside six months ago, is slowly putting the pieces of her life back on track.
Stephanie Meyer, said the last six months may have flown by, but it hasn’t been easy for the 23-year-old. Stephanie, a waitress at the time, said hijackers turned their attention to her after she ran to the aid of the their victim, who has also been shot. The hijackers shot her at point blank range and the bullet penetrated her arm.
“I still have very little muscular gain in the last five months since the surgery. The doctor did explain that because of the nature and severity of the injury caused when the bullet went through my arm and bone, the amount of damage to the muscle would take a long time to heal,” she said.
With 12 screws and a 15cm plate in her arm, Stephanie said she was just glad she was able to do more for her toddler, Amelia, who was just seven months old when the shooting took place. “The huge scar doesn’t bother me, its just there. I’m still in quite a bit of pain but glad I’m at a point where I can look after Amelia on my own, carry her on my other arm and am hoping to get back to work in the next few weeks.”
“I am forever grateful to the Glenwood community and everyone in the greater Durban area, who showed concern and supported me over the past few months. It has been such a help. I don’t know how I would have coped without them,” she added.
