Good work by security officer

A quick thinking security officer arrested a robber who was trying to break into a Durban shop.

A QUICK thinking Blue Security armed response officer arrested a burglar who attempted to break into a furniture store in the CBD in the early hours of Friday morning.

Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said the officer had responded to an alarm activation in Dr Pixley KaSeme (West) Street where he disturbed the burglars at around 3.40am.“Three burglars were in the process of trying to force open the store’s rear roller door and to brazenly pull a flat screen television under the roller door. However, they turned and fled the moment our officer arrived,” he said.

Jackson said the officer chased the gang and arrested one of the suspects on the corner of Dr Yusuf Dadoo (Broad) Street and Monty Naicker (Pine Street) Road. The suspect was handed over to Durban Central SAPS.“Upon further investigation it was found that the suspects had cut the burglar bars on a rear window and made a hole in the brick work to gain entry into the premises,” Jackson said.
