The community is urged to refrain from withdrawing large amounts of cash but rather use EFTs.

UMBILO police are appealing to the community to assist in arresting the robbery suspects.

According to Capt Nqobile Gwala, on 27 January at about noon, a 48-year-old woman and her daughter were allegedly accosted by six unknown suspects at Meller Crescent, Umbilo who robbed them of cash and two bags with their belongings at gunpoint.

“Victims were robbed of cash after they withdrew and exited the bank,” she said.

Anyone with information on the suspects is urged to contact Umbilo police on 031 203 2407 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

“The community is urged to refrain from withdrawing large amounts of cash, but rather use electronic transfers,” said Gwala.
