A CLARE Estate couple was lucky to escape a hijacking unharmed after a gang of hijackers followed them home on Thursday night.
According to Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson, the suspects followed the couple in a white BMW and held them up when they got to their Clare Road home at around 9.40pm.
“The gang forced open the driveway gate and held them up at gunpoint. They fled in the vehicle with the wife’s handbag, cellphone and wallet as well as their gate remotes and house keys. No injuries were reported,” he said
Jackson said Sydenham SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
In a separate incident in Valley View Road, Morningside, at around 7pm last night a woman was followed home and robbed of her cellphone at knifepoint.
“Suspects driving a white Hyundai followed her onto her property, held her up at knifepoint and demanded her cellphone. She complied and the suspects fled the scene. No injuries were reported,” he said.
Mayville SAPS were in attendance.
