Point intruder nabbed

The suspect was found hiding in the premises and promptly apprehended.

A security officer has been praised for his bravery which led to the arrest of a suspected thief. The suspect is now in police custody.

The Fidelity ADT Security Monitoring Centre received an alarm signal from a Shepstone Road property in the Point area and immediately dispatched Armed Response Officer (ARO), Kenny Moodley. As he was conducting a perimeter check,  Moodley discovered a broken window and immediately called for backup armed response. On entering the premises, the suspect was found hiding and was apprehended and handed over to members of the Durban Central South African Police Service (SAPS).

KZN District Manager for Fidelity ADT, Ivan Govender, commended Officer Moodley for his quick response and bravery. “I am proud of the officer’s courageousness which ensured that the criminal has now been placed behind bars.”

He advised residents to regularly test their alarm systems and to ensure that windows and doors, including garage doors, are properly closed and secured.
