Collection helps poppy project
South African Legion is hoping to collect 10 000 plastic bottles which will be turned into recycled poppies.
THE South African Legion is making an urgent appeal to Durban residents to save plastic cooldrink and water bottles.
The organisation is hoping to collect 10 000 plastic bottles which will be cut down by learners from Peter Pan School in Pietermaritzburg, and made into poppies.
Plastic bottles of all sizes (500ml, one litre and two litre) can be dropped off at Bike and Bean on the Durban beachfront. “We need to make about 20 000 poppies, so we need lots of bottles!
The balance of the plastic from the bottles will be donated to a charity which recycles the plastic to make school desks for underprivileged schools,” said Johann Kruger from the SA Legion.
He encouraged Durbanites to support this project.
