Manor Gardens suspect nabbed

Fidelity ADT officer, Victor Khomo, was commended for his good work in apprehending a suspect.

A SUSPECT was arrested in Manor Gardens after allegedly trying to break into a parked car to steal various items.

Fidelity ADT patroller Victor Khomo was dispatched to an address in Clair Avenue on Wednesday 28 June at around 9am when a panic alarm signal was received by the security company’s monitoring centre.

“One of our clients had seen a suspect jump over her property wall, which led her to raise the alarm,” said Shaun Maharaj, community development manager for Fidelity ADT.

Officer Khomo was on street patrol in the area at the time and immediately responded. When he arrived at the property, he noticed a suspect that was in the process of breaking into a car parked outside the client’s home. The suspect was allegedly trying to steal the car radio as well as a number of other items, but he was successfully apprehended by Officer Khomo. All items were recovered.

“We commend the officer for his bravery and quick response which led to the apprehension of the suspect. These officers are often the “unsung heroes” of our communities and we are proud of his efforts in keeping our client safe while also limiting the damage from the attempted theft from her vehicle,” Maharaj concluded.
