Armed gang hold boy (5) hostage in home invasion

The gang of armed men stormed the home and held a five-year-old boy hostage.

POLICE are investigating the home invasion yesterday of the Consul-General of India, Durban, Dr Shashank Vikram in Morningside.

According to reports, eight armed men derailed the gates, broke down the doors then stormed into the residence at around 4pm yesterday and ransacked the home. They allegedly held Dr Vikram’s five-year-old son hostage while they sifted through all the valuables in the home. The men threatened his wife, Dr Megha Singh who was also at home with the couple’s two children and an au pair.

The men fled with jewellery. No arrestes have been made but police spokesperson Lt Col Thulanie Zwane said a specialised team was working around the clock to track down the suspects.
