Good arrest
A MAN was charged with housebreaking and theft on 25 February.
According to Capt Poobalan Naidoo from Berea SAPS, at around 9am police were patrolling and noticed a suspicious looking man carrying items.
“They stopped and searched him and found a pressure cooker, two suitcases and clothing with contact details of someone living in Ridge Road in his possession. The suspect was questioned as to where he got the items and could not give a reasonable explanation,” said Naidoo.
The police contacted the person whose contact details were on the suitcase and it was confirmed that his garage had been broken into and his property stolen.
“The suspect was charged for housebreaking and theft and the property was given back to the lawful owner,” he said.

Awareness
CAPTAIN Naidoo urges residents to take heed of safety tips.
He said when parking a motor vehicle, motorists must make sure physically that the vehicle is locked.
“Be aware of remote jamming and do not leave valuables visible in your vehicles,” he said.
Naidoo said motorists must not park vehicles in isolated areas or in dark areas at night.
“If there’s parking in your building do not park on the road, even if you are going out again. Be alert at all times, you may be followed and when the opportunity arises the criminal could strike,” he said.
He also urged people to try not to use cellphones while walking on the street.
