Police seek abandoned child’s kin

Police are looking for relatives to assist in identifying an abandoned child.

THE Durban Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is appealing to the community to assist in a case of child abandonment they are investigating.

It is alleged that on 21 January at about 12.30pm, a two-year-old boy was found at the corner of Victoria and Grey Streets in the Durban CBD, after he was abandoned by an unknown female.

“Police are searching for the relatives who can assist in identifying the child and the culprit who abandoned the child on the street. Anyone who can assist the police with information is urged to contact Detective Warrant Officer Muthusamy on 031 325 4181 or 072 594 8216. Our Crime Stop number can also be contacted on 08600 10111,” said Colonel Thembeka Mbhele.
