Operation yields results

An eThekwini Central Detectives operation yielded positive results.

AN operation held by eThekwini Central Detectives resulted in the arrest of 49 suspects.

According to Const Zanele Khomo from Durban Central SAPS, on 26 and 27 June between 4pm and midnight, the detectives embarked on the operation in the Central Business District and surroundings areas.

“The purpose was to focus on business robberies in the CBD. A total of 49 suspects were arrested for different crimes including theft of motor vehicles, possession of heroin and cocaine, assault GBH, drunken driving, malicious damage to property, business robbery and theft,” said Khomo.

A VW Polo was also recovered on Umbilo Road which was reported stolen in Westville.

“All suspects will be charged and will appear in Durban magistrates court,” she said.
