MANOR Gardens Primary School learner, Zara Whittle wanted to do something to change the lives of people less fortunate than herself so, together with the help of her school friends, collected shoes for the disadvantaged.
Zara’s mum, Pippa, said: ‘Every time Zara sees poor people’s shoes she wants to tell them that she’ll find them some better shoes. This sparked the idea to collect shoes and she decided to ask her school community for help. As a community I feel we have a part to play in making a difference.I found out that Robin Hood receives donations for their Mahala Markets so we wanted to donate to this cause.”
Pippa initiated a shoe collection at Manor Gardens Primary School for the Robin Hood Foundation and through the generosity of children at the school collected 740 pairs of shoes.
“We want to inspire other schools to do the same,” said Pippa.
