Glenwood fibre goes live as more than 60 residents sign up

The fibre network went live on Wednesday evening in the first sub areas of Glenwood.

AFTER months of work, the fibre connection went live in Glenwood with the installation process beginning in some 60 homes.

Edmonds Road resident, Santhoshia Naicker said fibre was installed at her home on Friday, 14 May.

“We are very excited to have fibre in our area. We have been using LTE for a long time and we are looking forward to the speed that fibre offers,” she said.

She said her 14-year-old son will waste no time in taking to the web this weekend.

“My son is a gamer and he games online. This is one of the main reasons we decided to install fibre,” she added.

Lynette Read, spokesperson for fibre supplier, Lightstruck, said installation has begun at 60 houses so far.

“We initially did the home installs in two phases. We successfully completed the first phase to over 60 homes. Lightstrucks network went live on Wednesday evening in the first sub areas of Glenwood. We started the second phase of the home installs on Thursday morning and plan to have all 60 clients live by the weekend. The rest of the clients are being scheduled for next week,” she said.
