A MAN, believed to be about 35 years old, was killed in a head-on collision on Trematon Drive in Morningside today, October 21.
Another motorist was seriously injured in the accident.
It is alleged that one of the drivers was fleeing from the police.

“Reports from the scene indicate the deceased driver was allegedly fleeing from SAPS, who were attempting to stop his vehicle when he lost control and crashed into oncoming traffic,” said spokesperson for Emer-G-Med paramedics, Kyle Van Reenen.
According to Van Reenen, Emer-G-Med paramedics arrived on the scene near Norwood Road, and noted that two vehicles collided at high impact.

“The driver of one of the vehicles was found to have sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on arrival. The occupant of the second vehicle, a male, about 40 years old, was trapped in the wreckage of his vehicle. The Jaws-of-Life were used to cut him free while advanced life support interventions were performed to stabilise him,” said Van Reenen.
Once stabilised the man was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
