AFTER an alleged armed robbery in Durban Central, an innocent bystander was reportedly struck by a stray bullet in the chaos following the crime.

According to Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen, the incident occurred earlier this evening in Anton Lembede Street.

“Upon arrival on the scene, a male, believed to be approximately thirty years of age, was found to have sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg and was in a serious condition,” said Van Reenen.

Van Reenen said Intermediate Life Support paramedics worked to stabilise the man before he was taken to a nearby hospital for further care.

“It is alleged that the man was hit by a stray bullet after an armed robbery in the area took place. However, the South African Police Services were in attendance and will be conducting the necessary investigation accordingly,” he concluded.
