The deceased’s firearms were recovered at the accused’s homestead at KwaMaphumulo area, north of KwaZulu-Natal.

FOLLOWING three months of investigations and trial, the Durban High Court, yesterday, August 21, sentenced Mzo Ntombela to 20 years imprisonment for the murder of eThekwini Municipality’s police captain Zwalakhe Ntombela.

Capt Ntombela (50), stationed at Durban Metro Police, was shot and killed while he was arriving at his home in Umlazi on May 3. He was then robbed of his private and service pistols.
