ALS Paramedics said that they arrived to find Metro Police and lifeguards already on scene. ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said the man had reportedly experienced difficulty while swimming and was pulled from the water by lifesavers.
Despite resuscitation efforts, paramedics found no signs of life and declared him deceased on scene.

Jamieson said, “Lifeguards had rescued the victim, a man in his 30s, but unfortunately he showed no signs of life and was declared deceased on scene.
“With the festive season upon us, we urge the public to be cautious. Please swim in designated areas, obey lifeguards, be aware of strong currents, and avoid swimming under the influence of alcohol or any substances.”
The circumstances leading up to the drowning remain unclear, and SAPS has launched an investigation.
