NOW in its second year, the Orient Woodford Premier 7s is set to draw 104 schools and youth football clubs from across South Africa for a two-day experience.
The tournament is described as one of the country’s leading youth football events. Officially recognised by SAFA, and the Greater Durban Local Football Association (GDLFA), the tournament “provides a platform for talented young footballers to compete against quality opposition from around the country”.

This year’s tournament is expected to feature teams representing several provinces, while organisers are also anticipating the participation of a player from the youth structures of Italian football club AS Roma, further highlighting the calibre of talent expected at the event.
Executive headmaster of Orient Islamic School, Imtiaz Saib, said the tournament has become an important extension of the school’s vision, bringing together schools and clubs while creating meaningful opportunities for young people through sport.
Head of Soccer at Orient Islamic School, Demaine Ho Chong, said one of the tournament’s greatest strengths is the level of competition it attracts. According to Ho Chong, competing against teams from across South Africa exposes players to different styles of football, allows them to adapt under pressure and provides invaluable experience that contributes to their development individually and as a team.
The public is invited to attend the tournament hosted by Orient Islamic School and Woodford Car Hire at George Campbell School of Technology on August 8 and 9.
