23-year-old woman stabbed to death in Point area

Point SAPS are urging residents to be vigilant after a 28-year-old man stabbed a young woman to death and fled from a student residence in the Point Durban area.

POINT police are urging residents to be on the lookout for a 28-year-old man who stabbed a 23-year-old woman to death on July 31 at a student residence in the Durban Point area.

According to Detective Sergeant Xulu of the Point South African Police Services (SAPS), on 31 July 2022 at 07:30, Point police were called to a student residence at Mahatma Gandhi Road where a 23-year-old woman was stabbed. “Upon arrival at the scene, police found the body of a woman with multiple stab wounds. She was certified dead at the scene. The victim was identified as Xolile Mbatha, and a case of murder was opened at Point SAPS,” said Xulu.

Xulu says a warrant of arrest has been issued for 28-year-old Bongani Sanele Mlambo, and his current whereabouts are unknown.

“We appeal to anyone who may have information regarding the whereabouts of the wanted suspect – in the picture we have distributed – to contact our offices,” said Xulu.
