Gun-wielding suspect storms Durban restaurant

The suspect was arrested with an unlicensed firearm and has been linked to other business-robbery cases in the CBD.

A SUSPECT was arrested with an unlicensed firearm after storming a Durban restaurant and robbing the business of cash and stealing a cellphone.

SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Zanele Khomo said police were patrolling along Dr Yusuf Dadoo and Dr Pixley Kaseme streets in Durban’s Central Business District, on Friday, April 7, when concerned community members flagged them down.

“It is alleged that a few minutes earlier, a suspect robbed a restaurant of some cash and fled on foot. Police swiftly responded and gave chase to the suspect. One suspect was arrested on Dr Pixley Kaseme Street, and he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm that was used during the robbery,” said Khomo.
