Police seize drugs to the value of R50 000 in Essenwood

The woman, who is believed to be a foreign national, was found in possession of cocaine powder and rock cocaine.

THIS week, police from the South African Police Service (SAPS) Provincial Drugs and Firearms Unit seized cocaine valued at R50 000 from a residence in Avondale Road, Essenwood.

According to SAPS’s Colonel Robert Netshiunda, police officers who are members of the Provincial Drugs and Firearms Unit have operationalised intelligence about drugs which were allegedly kept at certain premises on Avondale Road in Durban.

“The operation at the premises resulted in the arrest of a foreign national. The woman, whose age is yet to be determined, was found in possession of cocaine powder and rock cocaine valued at an estimated street value of R50 000,” said Netshiunda.

Netshiunda said that after processing, the suspect will be presented before the court on charges of possession and dealing in drugs.
