Local organisations partner to host golf day

Umdudzi and Community Chest are combining their incredible donors, supporters, volunteers and staff to put on a memorable golf day. All proceeds will be equally split between the two organisations.

BEREA-BASED non-profit organisation, Umduduzi Hospice Care for Children, and Community Chest have partnered to host a fundraising golf day at Royal Durban Golf Club on Friday, March 8.

Gordon McDonald, executive director of Community Chest, said the aim of this event is to raise funds and to create awareness for the NPOs who
work in KwaZulu-Natal to bring care, relief, dignity and hope to communities.
Umduduzi provides direct services to all state hospitals in eThekwini and telephonic support to every state hospital in the province and also provides direct services to several private hospitals in eThekwini.

According to Umduduzi co-founder Tracey Brand, the organisation brings compassion, dignity, relevant care and relief from discomfort and pain to children diagnosed with life-threatening or lifelimiting illnesses within KZN.
“This is achieved through direct patient care, mentorship, empowerment of caregivers, training and advocacy,” said Brand.

McDonald explained that everything done at Community Chest Durban reinforces their overarching purpose of restoring dignity and hope in the lives of those who need support.
“Community Chest is the connector between the corporate and individual, and the NPO Impact Partner – always driven by the passion to empower and enhance members of the community,” said McDonald.

The collaboration will benefit so many, and we look forward to a fantastic fundraising event. The time of the event will depend on whether it is a shotgun start of staggered tee-off times. This will be confirmed once 4-ball numbers are finalised.

The format of the event is: 4-ball alliance, two scores to count. The cost to enter the event is R3 500 per 4-ball. This cost excludes cart hire and the halfway house as well as dinner and entrance to the prize-giving.
