Nandi the Musical set to wow Durban audiences

With its powerful storytelling, mesmerizing performances, and timeless themes of courage and resilience, Nandi the Musical is a celebration of Princess Nandi's remarkable life and promises to captivate hearts and inspire audiences of all ages.

Following its resounding success at the Soweto Theatre, Nandi the Musical is about to enthral Durban audiences once again as it takes centre stage in the Playhouse Drama theatre. This captivating production, which has garnered widespread acclaim for its celebration of Princess Nandi’s remarkable life, promises to deliver an unforgettable theatrical experience, particularly as 8 March marks International Women’s Month, and Princess Nandi stands as a global symbol of female empowerment.

Written and directed by the talented Edmund Mhlongo, Nandi the Musical is a production of Kwamashu Community Advancement Projects K-CAP. Mhlongo’s visionary storytelling and direction have brought Princess Nandi’s story to life with depth, authenticity, and emotional resonance. Featuring an ensemble of renowned talent, the production boasts a stellar cast that includes Zawadi Yamungu as the lead vocalist, Ntokozo Ngcobo portraying the lead character of Nandi, Velile Makhoba as Phampatha, and Mampho Moesheoshoe, a rising star in the entertainment industry, in the role of young Nandi. The production also features many other familiar faces from the entertainment industry, adding to the richness and diversity of the cast.

Nandi the Musical will delight audiences with six shows, including a special school show on Friday 8 March at 11:30 am (tickets R70 per learner), catering to young audiences and educational institutions. All other performances will commence at 7:00 pm.

Tickets for Nandi the Musical are available for purchase at Pick n Pay, Webtickets, and The Playhouse Box Office, priced at R200. Schools have the option of attending one of these public performances at R200 per person, with a 25% discount for block bookings of 10 or more.
