Park Square’s market and movie night is back

Park Square’s market and movie night is planned for Friday, April 26, with a host of exciting local stalls and food vendors all waiting to showcase their wares and offer up some delicious food and drinks. Bring your friends and family, picnic blankets or camping chairs and join us for a night under the stars.

Park Square is on Park Avenue, uMhlanga.

The market is from 16:00 to 20:00, and the movie starts at 19:30. Entry is free. No food, drinks or alcohol may be brought onto the premises, and no pets are allowed. There is ample undercover parking available.

Ahoy there, vintage lovers – visit the Durban Vintage Market in Morningside

Join the Vintage Market for an intimate curated market of vintage delight on Saturday, April 27, for their next Durban Vintage Market with a collection of curated vintage goods: retro household, collectables and preloved and vintage clothing. Also, there will be amazing coffee and snacks on offer by Love Coffee. Enjoy a day of vintage and antique treasures while you sip on a G&T or some bubbles.

Time: 09:00 to 14:00

Free for all. Well-behaved dogs are allowed on leashes.

Market 031 is on during the May 1 public holiday

The Market 031 is a vibrant market at Northwood Crusaders Sports Club in Durban North with 90+ stalls.

When walking through from vendor to vendor, you will find everything from delicious food and uniquely handmade products as well as organic and locally sourced artisanal produce. Pop in and visit your favourite vendors and grab a seat to enjoy the ultimate market experience while the kids enjoy themselves in the kiddies zone and on the field!

LIVE music kicks off at 09:00 until 13:00.
There is a parking fee of R10 per car. Entrance is free, and fur babies on welcome on leads.

ABBA Thank You for the Music is coming to Rhumbelow Theatre

ABBA’s timeless music will be showcased from Friday, April 26, to Sunday, April 28, at the Rhumbelow Theatre at 42 Cunningham Road off Bartle Road, Umbilo.

One Step Productions will take you through the real-life journey of Agnetha, Anni-Frid, Benny and Bjorn as we celebrate their greatest hits.

Marion Loudon will be singing in ‘ABBA Thank You for the Music’ at Rhumbelow Theatre in May.

Their talented cast consists of their fabulous singers, Marion Loudon and Kiara Teunissen, as well as their Steps Dance Company dancers, Shaye Caldicott, Caitlyn Petterson, Thandah Gazu and Tanya Webb. And last but not least, Brian Petterson is their fabulous guitarist for the production. The show is choreographed by Cathy Barry, and musical arrangement and audio-visual is by Alan Barry.

Book your tickets now, and you won’t be disappointed. It’s R200 a ticket. Bring a food picnic basket or buy at the venue. They open 90 minutes before the show, and there is a bar available.

Watch Elizabeth – The Golden Age on the big screen

Join the film club at Rhumbelow Theatre, Cunningham Road, Umbilo and watch the 2007 movie on Wednesday, April 24, at 18:30.

In Elizabeth – The Golden Age, Queen Elizabeth I (Cate Blanchett) faces threats to her rule from abroad and at home. Determined to restore England to Roman Catholicism, Spain’s King Philip II dispatches his armada. Sworn to her country, body and soul, Elizabeth must resist her love for charismatic seafarer Sir Walter Raleigh (Clive Owen) and watch as he and her handmaiden grow closer. Finally, trusted adviser Walsingham (Geoffrey Rush) uncovers a plot involving her cousin Mary Stuart.

The cast consists of Jordi Mollà, Aimee King, Cate Blanchett, Laurence Fox, John Shrapnel, Geoffrey Rush, Susan Lynch and Elise McCave.

The venue opens 60 minutes before the show for snacks/drinks, and the running time is 114 min (excluding a 15-minute interval). There is a bar available.

The public screening is licensed through MPLC (Motion Picture Licensing Company). License No 5166. The Film & Publication Board – Exhibitor License FPB8/2022/233051.

Attendance is restricted to Rhumbelow Film Club members only and is free for them, but you can join the club at R300pp for January to June. Members can bring guests at R100 each.

There is limited secure parking available and booking is essential.

Movie night in support of charity

Bring your picnic blanket/chairs and enjoy a family-friendly movie night under the stars in support of St Martin’s Diocesan Home for Children. The movie is called Orion and the Dark and will be showing at 239 Clark Road, Berea. It is an animated show about a boy who faces his fears by going on a journey with a creature called Dark. There will be wors rolls and snacks for sale.

Molweni River Trail group hike

VUKA Fitness presents a hike in Everton Gorge on Saturday, April 27, from 07:00. Beginners are welcome. It is an 8–10km hike starting at Everton Conservancy.

The hike is R140 per adult, R80 for children under 12 and a group of four is R480. The fee includes a permit, water and a snack.

The event will be on Saturday, April 27, at 08:00 until late at Hutchison Park, Amanzimtoti.

It will be the biggest gathering of pipe bands in the southern hemisphere! Witness the awe-inspiring sight of pipe bands from all over South Africa converging in Toti for a spirited competition and then the Mass Bands Performance which is the crescendo of an incredible day!
