Durban Surf Lifesaving Club dominates at provincial champs
Durban Surf Lifesaving Club crowned overall winners at the KZN Junior & Senior Lifesaving Championships at Dairy Beach.
HELD at Dairy Beach over the weekend, the KZN Junior & Senior Lifesaving Championships displayed extensive talent and skill as the hosts Durban Surf Lifesaving Club (DSLC) were crowned the ultimate winner. Umhlanga Rocks Surf Lifesaving Club and Marine Surf Lifesaving Club took positions two and three, respectively.
“The competition, which brought together the province’s top junior and senior surf lifesaving athletes, saw Durban Surf Lifesaving Club excel across multiple disciplines. Both the Junior and Senior teams secured first place in their respective divisions, showcasing the club’s depth, talent, and consistent high standards,” shared DSLC.
“Adding to the celebration, two Durban Surf Lifesaving Club athletes were crowned overall winners in their respective age groups after accumulating the highest individual points across the weekend’s events. Their performances highlighted not only individual excellence but also the strength of the club’s development structures.”
Club officials praised the athletes for their dedication and teamwork, noting that the achievement reflects months of preparation and commitment in the water and on the beach.
“Winning the overall title for the third year in succession firmly establishes Durban Surf as one of the leading surf lifesaving clubs in KwaZulu-Natal. The club’s continued success at provincial level sets a strong foundation as athletes prepare for upcoming regional and national competitions. The weekend’s results mark another milestone in what has become a proud tradition of excellence for Durban Surf Lifesaving Club,” the club said.
The club further shared a special shoutout to Brogan Reid (Competitor of the Champs U/19 Female) and Siyanda Mthethwa (Competitor of the Champs Open Males).
