Sports day fun for seniors

Much fun was had by residents, staff and visitors at the Essenwood Residential Home's Sports Day.

THERE was plenty of fun and laughter as Essenwood Residential Home held its second annual Sports Day recently.

The gardens of the Essenwood Residential Home were packed with family and friends of residents who dropped by to join in the fun. The staff got into the spirit of the day with nursing sisters, the kitchen department and maintenance team dressing up in funky costumes to co-ordinate with their team names.

The Cool Bananas team were kitted out in yellow helmets while the Wheelers and Dealers team had swagger in snazzy sunglasses and over-the-top make-up.

The first event of the day was a skittles contest, which got the crowd cheering participants on.

This was followed by other fun filled activities like a fishing contest, wheelchair race and egg and spoon race, all of which brought out the competitiveness in residents and staff alike.

The Sports Day ended with a lucky draw and tons of prizing were given away, much to the delight of the lucky winners.
