Calling all aspiring performers

The Project Performer National Online Lockdown Competition is open to all aspiring performers and entries are open until 17 July.

NATIONAL performers have rallied together to support Project Performer’s national online Lockdown Competition, which will donate a portion of the proceeds going to The Theatre Benevolent Fund.

Speaking about the project, director, Shylo Pereira, said: “This is bigger than just a competition, this is about rallying together a number of industry professionals and amateurs, to stand as one big voice, and show our country and world that the entertainment and performing arts industries do matter during this time, and we will rise and conquer no matter what.”

The Project Performer National Online Lockdown Competition is open to all aspiring performers across all styles of dancing, singing and acting. Entries are open until 17 July with prizes valued at R100 000 up for grabs.

“We are proud to be associated with 45 national and international industry professional judges, who will judge the final round, including giving feedback and choosing the winners,” said Shylo.

Just some of the many judges on board include Maps Maponyane, Steven Stead, Samantha Peo, Jono Johanssen, Lelo Ramasimong and Bernard Kruger.

Performers can enter categories including singing (musical theatre/Broadway or pop/contemporary), acting (monologue/duologue of any style), TV commercial (maximum two minutes), dance (of any style), choreography (your own), and instrumental (classical or contemporary).
