WATCH: Grade Seven learners empowered to be the best
A local organisation called Godgeousness Women’s Ministry donated 213 sanitary packs consisting of seven packets of sanitary pads and a roll-on for the girls.
Ramaphosa Combined School held a Women’s Month function for its Grade Seven learners on August 27.
The function aimed at empowering young women to be the best that they can be and was also attended by female teachers.
One of the speakers at the event, Bahle Gqola, who attended her primary phase at the school and is now a teacher at the school, advised the girls to make informed decisions about their lives.

“It’s important to make informed decisions now while you are still young because whatever you decide will play a role in the future.
“I have seen a great potential in all of you but you need to study hard and never look down on yourself.”
The deputy principal, Sylvia Mnyakama, encouraged the learners to fulfil God’s purpose in their lives.
“As women, you are unique and special, so it’s important that you nurse and protect yourselves from people who would want to take advantage of you,” said Mnyakama.
Meanwhile, in partnership with Ekurhuleni Spurs FC, a local organisation called Godgeousness Women’s Ministry donated 213 sanitary packs consisting of seven packets of sanitary pads and a roll-on for the girls.

The founder of the organisation, Thando Madonsela, said they were a few months ago approached by members of Ekurhuleni Spurs FC pledging that they will donate sanitary pads to the organisation.
Madonsela said the organisation, which has been in existence since 2018, is aimed at giving back to the community as well as empower young girls from the ages of 13 to 38.
“This was our first project and I must say that we outdid ourselves all thanks to the support that we received from the football team,” Madonsela said.
Thamsanqa Dube from the Ekurhuleni Spurs FC said, “During this season we pledged that for every goal we score, we will give a pack of sanitary pads. For the season we scored 84 goals so we’ve fulfilled our promise and donated 84 pads to the organisation.”

Dube said since they’ve started the initiative they’ve seen a huge difference in terms of scores.
“Our team members are now full of zeal and determination since they were told about this initiative.”
