Two suspected drug dealers have been taken off the streets of Reiger Park after members of the EMPD Drug Enforcement found them with narcotics on the morning of October 8.
According to EMPD spokesperson, Kobeli Mokheseng, the suspicious pair was spotted idling on Lupin Street at about 7am before the EMPD officers pounced.
“The man and the woman were handcuffed after officers found them in possession of 15 ziplocks of crystal meth valued at R4 500. Both the drugs and the pair’s R1 633 cash, believed to be proceeds of crime, were seized.
“The two were taken to the Reiger Park SAPS where they were charged with possession and possible dealing in illegal substance.”
In another unrelated story, the EMPD Anti-Cable Theft Unit Squad, SAPS members, City of Ekurhuleni Energy Department Technicians and other law enforcers, descended on Brakpan where they removed illegal connections and seized a 73 500m of cable.
They visited Crocodile, 2nd, 13th, Dirt and Ergo streets and part of Mchanxwa informal settlement where illegal electricity connections were removed.
“Members retrieved unlawfully connected aluminum and copper cables from trenches, lampposts and mini-substations supplying the nearby informal settlement. This is an ongoing operation and arrests are imminent,” said Mokheseng.
