AfriForum Boksburg and Boksburg North Sector Four CPF collaborate to assist community

The organisations will strive to address security and socio-economic issues

To combat crime and uplift the community, AfriForum Boksburg and Boksburg North CPF Sector Four have formed a partnership.

According to Helen Bergh, the organisations decided to collaborate as they have successfully worked together on projects in the past.

The organisations recently moved into a new office at 84 Rietfontein Road; the doors will be open for the public in a month.

Bergh said their main focus will be to assist the community where possible.

“We have an open-door policy, and anybody is welcome to visit the office. There is going to be a whiteboard inside the premises where people can report crimes and other things that are happening. Not everybody feels comfortable to give out information on a WhatsApp group.

“Security, police and EMPD officers are welcome to come and enjoy a cup of coffee at the office. This way the law enforcement officers can see what people are reporting. We hope this initiative will help to improve the relationship between the public and the police.

“Furthermore we’re going to hold briefings and meetings and training sessions here. When it is safe to do so, we also want to host monthly community braais. Moreover, residents are free to drop off donations in the form of necessities such as clothing. We’ll distribute it among the needy,” said Bergh.
Ashley Naidoo, the deputy chairperson of the Boksburg North CPF, said they are excited about the collaboration.

“We have found that we have the same goals, and it would be best to form a partnership to try and address security and socio-economic issues,” Naidoo said.

Bergh and Naidoo stressed they need the community’s assistance to make a success of the initiative.

Donations in the form of stationery, a printer, blinds, curtains, cutlery, cleaning products, a coffee machine, kettle, fridge, dustbin, and alarm system would be appreciated.

They expressed their gratitude towards those who already made contributions.

“We would like to thank all those who have either sponsored money or paid for things for the office out of their own pockets,” Bergh said.
