HOW IT WORKS
Show us your pet!
During the first week of September, upload a photo of your cutest pet and tell us what makes them so special.
Entry is easy:
- Take a gorgeous photo of your pet.
- Submit your pet’s name, your name and contact number, together with the photo.
- Tell us your pet’s ‘storey’ in 50 words and explain what makes them the cutest.
- Entries must be original photographs, and you must have permission to submit them.
Entries open: 1 September
Entries close: 14 September
Now it’s time to get those votes!
Once entries close, it’s time to vote.
Voting takes place from 22 to 29 September.
Share your entry with your friends, family, co-workers, neighbours, pet sitter – anyone who thinks your furry friend deserves the crown.
Encourage them to vote for your pet and share their ‘storey’. The more people who discover your pet’s ‘storey’, the better.
And… for those who love their pet so, so much… you can only vote once. Multiple votes from the same person/IP address will be excluded, and only the first vote will count.
Winners are determined by the number of votes, not by us.
And the winner is…
The winners will be announced on October 6.
So, grab your phone, find that perfect photo and tell us why your pet deserves to be in the spotlight.
Is it the way they greet you at the door? Their hilarious antics? Their unconditional loyalty? Their ability to turn even the toughest day around? Or perhaps they have the cutest face in Boksburg?

The competition operates within the spirit of fairness, transparency, community participation and genuine public support
Entry – You can enter more than one of your pets. They need to be separate entries.
Voting – Readers (and you) vote for the cutest pet in Boksburg. Only one vote per person counts. Multiple votes from the same person/IP address will be excluded and only the first vote will count.
Winners are determined solely by the number of votes, not us! The competition is built on community support and fair participation.
Fraudulent activity or attempts to manipulate the competition may result in: vote removal, disqualification, additional restrictions where necessary.
Audit of votes may be subject to automated and manual auditing before final results are confirmed.
The organisers reserve the right to verify, include, exclude entries and votes that appear suspicious, duplicated, fraudulent, manipulated or otherwise inconsistent with the spirit of the competition.
The audit methodology and criteria used by the organisers are proprietary and may be amended from time to time to protect the integrity of the competition.
Only audited and validated votes will be included in the final results.
By participating, pet owners agree to abide by these rules and support the integrity of the competition.
Disputes – must be raised with 7 days of the announcement of the results in writing and contain sufficient detail for assessment. The organisers decision regarding any dispute shall be final and binding and no further correspondence will be entered into. To protect participant privacy and the integrity of the competition , the organisers are not obliged to disclose vote counts, voter information, audit records, technical methodologies, fraud detection processes or any other internal competition data as part of the dispute process.
The judges decision is final and the prize winners will be contacted telephonically. Prize winners need to be available for photographs and give consent to Boksburg Advertiser and Pet Storey, by entering that they plus their pet’s photographs and name can be published in print, digital and/or social media.
The prize/s are not transferable or redeemable for cash
The competition is only open to residents living/working in the Boksburg and surrounding suburbs.
The competition is not open to employees or family of Caxton Media or Pet Storey.
POPIA Compliance – Personal information is processed in accordance with the Protection of Personal Act (POPIA).
- SUMMARY – These rules exist to help ensure the ‘Boksburg’s cutest pet’ competition remains fair, transparent, enjoyable and community driven for both pet owners and voters.
