
The station is currently in the process of establishing street committees and neighborhood watches, where they encourage the community to know each other and look out for each other.
“Through the help of the community we can limit the high crime rate which is taking place both day and night. Every Saturday and Sunday we meet with residents, and we are appealing to people to come forward with any information that can assist us to make arrests,” says W/O Rafanyane.
According to Rafanyane, house break-ins are a major concern in the community of Dawn Park, and the station receives a huge number of reports on house break-in incidents.
He says that hi-jackings are also a major problem in the area, with Mercedes Benz and BMW cars being a high risk target.
“Our daily operations for the month of July include road blocks, raiding unlicensed shebeens where rape and assault incidents have been taking place, as well a zero-tolerance approach to unlicensed trucks and non-compliance.”
