According to Kobeli Mokheseng, spokesperson for the EMPD, they issued 57 fines to motorists for driving without their valid card driver’s licence.
“Seven vehicles were impounded for not being roadworthy and 26 fines were handed out for registration and licensing violations.”
He adds that 45 fines were issued for moving violations and a further 30 fines for parking and stopping offences.
Mokheseng says that 14 motorists were arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol.
Some 273 pedestrians and motorists were stopped and searched in the CBD, industrial sites, suburbs and at informal settlements.
“We issued 24 fines to special motorists, for driving without their Professional Drivers Permits (PRDP).”
There were 16 accidents recorded in the Boksburg area, of which two where slight injuries emerged, 13 where only damages were incurred and one where a municipal vehicle was involved.
