Fireworks cause havoc among animals – SPCA
The noise pollution caused by the fireworks over the 2015/16 New Year was horrendous for local animals.
This is according to Boksburg SPCA manager, Maggie Mudd.
“Even though we asked the community to not set off fireworks, it was much worse than the previous year,” said Mudd.
“We had a large number of stray animals that came into our kennels, but on the brighter side, a number of these animals were reunited with the owners.”
In an attempt to reunite lost animals with their owners, the society is now able to assist pet owners with the insertion of micro-chips into their pets.
The micro-chip is an effective way of proving ownership.
The charge for this service is R250 and only takes five minutes.
