Burglars arrested

Two men were arrested after they were caught stealing from a business in Commissioner Street in the Boksburg CBD, at about 1pm on Sunday, July 23. Someone reportedly heard a loud bang as the burglars were breaking into the business.

When the person checked she saw the men stealing nappies. The police were called and the suspects were arrested.

Scrap metal collector assaulted

A scrap metal collector opened a case of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm after he was apparently attacked by security guards in Plantation, on Friday, July 21.

The man told the police that he was combing the area for metal when he was approached by six men, whom he described as security officers, in the veld between the houses and the nearby mine.

The suspects reportedly asked the man why he didn’t run away when he heard gunshots and he told them he had done nothing wrong.

The officers then accused him of opening fire on them and apparently started to assault him with fists and bricks. The victim told the police that he was lucky to escape with his life and went straight to the police station.
