The man (20) who allegedly raped an 18-year-old woman following her visit to a cellphone shop in Boksburg North on May 30 has been arrested.
The suspect appeared for the first time at the Boksburg Magistrates Court on June 25 facing charges of rape.
According to Boksburg North police spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, he was remanded in custody and his case has been postponed.
The teenager told the police that she went to the shop in Boksburg to have her phone fixed befoer she was sexually attacked.
“The woman said while she was waiting at the counter, a man came in and asked her if she was selling her cellphone. She said no and subsequently left. The woman further alleged that the man followed and accosted her. He then allegedly undressed her and raped her,” Ramaube said.
