2019/20 Christmas Cheer funds helps with refurbishing kennels
The fund saw families, friends, companies and organisations donating in support of the furry friends at the Boksburg SPCA
The Boksburg SPCA’s adoption kennels have been revamped and it’s all thanks to generous donors who contributed towards the 2019/20 Christmas Cheer Fund.
A total of 15 large and six small kennel fronts at the society’s adoption area have been given a facelift after they were in a dire state of disrepair.
Initially, the Boksburg SPCA set a target of R60 000 for the 2019/20 Christmas Cheer Fund but they got more than what they bargained for when they exceeded their target to R71 844.
According to Vicky Finnemore, Boksburg SPCA manager, the cheer fund was used to refurbish their veterinary clinic’s medical kennels.
However, an anonymous benefactor of the society stepped in and undertook this refurbishment at no cost.
“This then enabled us to use the funds, as well as the donations received from Dhanen Pillay, Marco da Costa Dias, and Paws Before You Drive fund-raisers and Bestfence to replace the kennels,” Finnemore said.
She highlighted that about six small kennel fronts still need to be replaced.
“We would like to thank each and every person who contributed towards our fund, thus ensuring our dogs are now housed in safe and secure kennels,” Finnemore said.
The purpose of the fund is to raise funds to cater for all the furry critters that need to be fed, and to provide Christmas treats to all the destitute pets.
