Robbers break wall to steal money in ATM

The robbers used a grinder to cut open the ATM machine

Two men are being sought by the Boksburg North police after they broke the wall of a Standard Bank ATM at the Westwood Shopping Centre and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash on September 10.

According to Const Justice Ramaube, Boksburg North police spokesperson, a security guard was accosted by two men at about 2am while doing security checks on the premises.

“The security guard said he was held up with a firearm and instructed to go to the guardroom.”

“There, he was handcuffed and tied up with shoe laces before the suspects broke the ATM wall in order to gain entry to the machine.”

“It is alleged robbers used grinders to open the ATM machine before fleeing with cash,” Ramaube said.

A case of business robbery has been opened at the Boksburg North SAPS.
